Minneapolis Urban League

 

Their Employment and Training program offers job training, placement and advancement opportunities. They work with people who are entering the workforce for the first time or re-entering after an absence. They provide core services and intensive services to assist you during the job search process. The Business Employment Solutions Training (BEST): Career Pathways to Success program is a talent-development program to equip entry-level, unemployed and underemployed individuals who are participants in the Minnesota Family Investment Program (MFIP) with skills that foster increased preparedness and access to current and emerging jobs — with the ultimate goal of becoming self-sufficient. 

EMERGE

EMERGE gives Minnesotans the opportunity to gain jobs, participate in career training, access financial education and services, and helps homeless individuals and families received services to directly support them in gaining or maintain housing. They offer adult and youth workforce services, combined with a range of other services, along a continuum from basic job search coaching up to long-term intensive career training, tailored to the specific needs of the participant. There mission is to Our mission is to reveal the potential in people and communities through skill building, employment, and economic opportunity.

Amiscus 

Amicus is a Minnesota not-for-profit organization with over 44 years of experience in improving public safety by helping incarcerated men and women  through positive relationship-building, restorative justice practices and individualized transition services. Amicus partners with formerly incarcerated men and women, juvenile offenders, at risk youth and communities to build successful lives and stronger communities. Through innovative programming, Amicus helps inmates and ex-offenders reshape their lives, reach their goals, and make successful transitions from prison into the community. All of the Amicus programs are relationship-based, community-driven, culturally specific and outcome-oriented.

Twin Cities Rise

Twin Cities Rise assists men of color in poverty on the path to long-term and stable employment. Their work skills training prepares participants with the skills they’ll need on the job. Through internship opportunities, job search assistance, and employment placement services, they work with participants to find meaningful employment. Their coaches provide one-on-one support, partnering with participants for two years after they’ve landed their new jobs.Through their signature Personal Empowerment Program, they provide transformative change, fostering self-confidence and self-reliance.

Avivo Employment Action Center

At Avivo, individuals find customized employment services to achieve their life and career goals. Their career counselors create plans that are unique to each individual – a holistic approach for unemployed and under-employed men and women who are struggling to find work or start their careers. They also specialize in helping individuals who face significant challenges to employment and stability – particularly people with low incomes or who are experiencing poverty or homelessness, adults or youth with disabilities, working single parents, new immigrants, and youth and young parents.

180 Degrees Program

The 180 Degrees program helps to assist clients in achieving their full potential, experience peace and respect within their communities, and live self-sufficient lives. They feature high-quality programs, including: Youth Advancement programs and residential programs for homeless and adult men and youth. 

Better Futures

 

Better Futures believe that everyone deserves the opportunity to pursue a good job, a safe home, health care and services, and meaningful relationships with friends, family, and the community. They also believe in personal redemption and second chances, and that men who are dedicated to change and hard work should have the opportunity to achieve success and make a positive impact in the community. They believe in restorative justice and work alongside formerly incarcerated men on their path to transforming their lives and building a better future.

AccessAbility 

 

AccessAbility helps to develop an individual Employment Support Plan that includes employment goals to assist men and women in gaining work skills and behaviors to allow them to transition into a supported employment position. The Extended Employment program provides employment support to people with severe mental health and/or physical disabilities and other economic, academic and social barriers to employment. Long-term training and support is provided by AccessAbility, Inc. staff as well as follow-up case management services and assistance to the individuals. The organization has five core areas​

American Indian OIC

The American Indian OIC was created to help people experiencing economic hardship, unemployed or individuals seeking advancement on their current job, and provides an educational foundation that secures employment in positions that have opportunities for professional and financial growth. The organization achieves this by educating people from all academic levels and moving them forward to a more stable and thriving futureJob counselors work one-on-one with clients to connect them to career opportunities that allow for professional and financial advancement. Employment services are open to individuals seeking to enter the workforce and individuals who have been long-term unemployed.

East Side Neighborhood Services

East Side Neighborhood Services provides help to low income, unemployed, or underemployed individuals to acquire full time work. The list of services include free career training, full-service computer lab, career counseling, job application and career assessments. ​

HIRED

HIRED provides employment counseling and support to previously incarcerated men through counseling, training, workshops, and job search assistance to help participants build skills and gain professional qualifications to find and retain employment. They offer regularly-scheduled workshops that allow participants to improve their job search skills. 

Merrick Community Services 

Merrick Community Services  assists participants in identifying training opportunities in preparing for a career.  These resources provide unemployed and underemployed adults with resume building, job searches, email access, job readiness training, weekly job clubs, professional computer skills, as well as help to identify employment references and interview skills.  

Minnesota State CareerWise

Minnesota State CareerWise provides several resources to help individuals with a past criminal conviction to attain and retain employment. They offer assistance throughout the hiring process, guidance in discussing one's criminal history, tips on making connections, resume development and mock interviews.
